Disaster Services - What We Do
Your local Red Cross has teams of on-call volunteers who respond 24 hours a day to meet the psychological and physical needs of local disaster victims.
The core of Red Cross disaster relief is the assistance given to victims to enable them to resume their normal daily activities independently.
During a disaster situation, the Red Cross also feeds emergency workers, handles inquires from concerned family members outside the disaster area, provides blood and blood products to disaster victims and helps those affected by disaster to access other available resources.
Your local Red Cross helps people lessen the impact of disasters through disaster preparedness education (providing the community with information on how to prevent, prepare for and respond to disaster) and disaster mitigation education (teaching the community how to take actions prior to disaster to reduce loss).
