Heroes Essay Contest 2009
Essay Winner: Grades K-2 Scott Elementary School
My Dad is my hero. His name is Scott Olsen. He is a firefighter in Evansville. He puts out a fire by spraying it with water. Sometimes he climbs a tall ladder to help put out fires. He has to wear special pants, coat and a helmet. These things protect him from the fire. He helps people that are in car wrecks. He also helps people that are sick or hurt. My Dad helped people the night of the November 6, 2005 tornado and during January's ice storm. I think he is very strong and brave. My Dad works 24 hours at a time. He eats and sleeps at his fire station. My Dad loves his work and he loves his job.
